Dear Couples, Philadelphia Wants You This Winter

With Love, Philadelphia XOXO® Winter Campaign Turns Up The Heat With A 29 Dates Promotion

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) is turning up the heat on its popular With Love, Philadelphia XOXO® campaign this winter by sending its sleepover message exclusively to couples, the most popular trip type from January through March according to a GPTMC hotel visitor survey. The $825,000 campaign—running January through March—will feature a new look, new love lines and a new 29 Nights of Dates sweepstakes featuring more than 60 prizes on facebook.com/visitphilly, all aimed at getting couples to spend a night or two in a Philadelphia hotel this winter.

29 Nights Of Dates:
Throughout the month of February, fans of facebook.com/visitphilly will have a chance to win one of
29 fun, romantic and inspired Philly dates—a Mural Arts Program Love Letter Mural Tour along with lunch at Table 31 and a one-night stay at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown; a class at Cook and drinks at Twenty Manning Grill; Ritz theater tickets and dinner at Positano Coast; among many other options. All who enter to win a date will also be eligible to nab the grand prize on February 29: a red two-seat Vespa and a couple of With Love-branded helmets.

New Look, New Lines:
In the spirit of romance, GPTMC has turned the love letters red for the sixth installment of the campaign. Among the spirited lines:

  • Dear New Flame, Let me be your fan.
  • Dear Budding Romance, Love blooms in the winter.
  • Dear Hot Night Out Together, I look good in the morning
  • Dear What Happens Behind Closed Doors, That’s just between us.
  • Dear Lovebirds, A bed and some pillows make a great nest.

The Media Buy:
The love letters will appear largely in the Philadelphia DMA (as people tend to travel closer to home in the winter) in a broad mix of media, including on billboards, in train stations, online and in newspapers and magazines. Many of the online ads will appear on sites that help those searching for love meet people and plan dates—JDate, eHarmony, Open Table, Live Nation, Yelp and others. And some of the website banner ads will include 15-second video teasers—a GPTMC first—that show off the city’s thriving dining and nightlife scenes. Longer versions of the Philly After Dark videos will appear on GPTMC’s websites and social media properties. In more GPTMC advertising firsts, popper ads (stickers) touting a sleepover message will appear on the front page of The Philadelphia Inquirer and Bucks County Courier Times in January and February, and With Love coffee sleeves will be distributed at nearly 25 shops throughout the region.

Four partners—Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Adventure Aquarium, The Philadelphia Orchestra and Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau—joined in on GPTMC’s media buy in order to reach potential travelers. The partners take advantage of the popularity and recognition of the proven With Love campaign, while GPTMC increases the cost-efficiency of its marketing dollars. The joint marketing ads will run in Philadelphia, Northern New Jersey and New York.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) makes Philadelphia and The Countryside® a premier destination through marketing and image building that increases business and promotes the region’s vitality.

Mummers 101: Celebrate New Year's Day Like A Local

A Primer To the Who, What, When, Where & Why of Philly's Mummer's Parade

New Year’s Day is about celebrating, and there’s no better place to fete than at Philadelphia’s Mummers Parade, a tradition dating back to 1901 in which 10,000 men, women and children dressed in colorfully lavish costumes twirl, sashay, pirouette and strut down one of the city’s main streets.

Over the past few years, tweaks to the traditional route now take the Mummers from north to south with judging at the start of the parade instead of at the end and performances along the length of the route rather than in specific locations.
