May 25-27, 2007:

  • Black Heritage Festival & Soul Patrol Convention. This three-day event showcases black culture, heritage and music events at Clark Park and the Enterprise Center. Scheduled events include a film festival, cabaret, awards presentation, concert, town hall panels, kid’s activities and more. Attendees will jam to classic soul, neo-soul and jazz performed by more than 50 artists, including Chi-Lites, Mandrill, Melba Moore, Michael Henderson, Marlon Saunders/Jazzhole, Martha Redbone, Geri Allen and more. May 25-September 3, 2007:

  • Eyewitness: American Originals From the National Archives. Be one of the first to see this traveling exhibition on display at the National Constitution Center. Through letters, diaries, photographs, audio and film, visitors to the Eyewitness exhibition will gain new and unique insights into well-known occurrences from the Hindenburg explosion and Pope John Paul II’s first U.S. visit to the Kennedy assassination and Apollo 8.   • Run With the Dragons. The Schuylkill Dragons host their first annual Run with the Dragons on a 1.3-mile paved loop within Wilson Farm Park. www.schuylkilldragons.org

May 26-27, 2007:

  • Captain Morgan’s Jam on the River. Now in its 22nd year, this annual Penn’s Landing Memorial Day weekend tradition continues to showcase big-name acts in an ideal riverfront setting. This year’s lineup features a trio of behemoths in the jam band circuit, including Dark Star Orchestra, Sound Tribe Sector 9 and local boys-done-good the Disco Biscuits.   • Peter Nero and the Philly Pops with Jennifer Holliday.   • Peddler’s Village Fine Arts & Contemporary Crafts Show.
