Prolific Philadelphia restaurateur Stephen Starr is the 2017 winner of the national James Beard Foundation award for “Outstanding Restaurateur.” A pioneer of Philadelphia’s dining and nightlife scene, Starr is responsible for groundbreaking Old City restaurants Continental and Buddakan, Rittenhouse Square’s Parc Brasserie, Alma de Cuba, Barclay Prime and Butcher and Singer—and 12 more Philadelphia restaurants. He also owns Le Coucou in New York, Le Diplomate in Washington DC and restaurants from Florida to Paris.
