City Hall and Philly Holiday Tree

City Hall and Philly Holiday Tree

As viewed from above, Philadelphia's City Hall doubles as holiday central from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. At the foot of the historic building, Dilworth Park's festive centerpiece is the 38-foot Philly Holiday Tree, aglow with thousands of lights. The live fir stands atop a multimedia base decorated with iconic symbols of Philadelphia—the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Rocky, more—as imagined by Broadway production designer David Korris Design. For the first time, the tree is surrounded by activity, including the new-this-year planted America’s Garden Capital Maze and the alfresco Rothman Institute Ice Rink and cozy Rothman Institute Cabin. Nearby, City Hall's courtyards host the traditional, German-inspired Christmas Village and the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market of local artists, crafters, designers and food vendors.
