Mummers Parade

Mummers Parade

In Philadelphia, the New Year gets off to a colorful and comic start when the Mummers hit Broad Street for their annual parade. Marchers in traditional “wench” outfits lead the way for the Comics, Wench Brigades, Fancies, Fancy Brigades and iconic String Bands who dazzle crowds with their elaborately feathered and sequined costumes while performing choreographed music-and-dance routines. The Mummers Parade has been part of Philadelphia’s New Year’s Day tradition since 1901.
