Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA)

Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA)

Best known for its 19th- and 20th-century American paintings, PAFA is also a national leader in fine arts education. Its Historic Landmark Building, designed by Frank Furness, is one of the finest surviving examples of Victorian Gothic architecture in the Americas. Heralded by the 51-foot Paint Torch sculpture by Claes Oldenburg, Lenfest Plaza connects the historic building to the newer Samuel M. V. Hamilton Building.
