Bastille Day

Bastille Day

Every July, the historic and massive Eastern State Penitentiary hosts a Bastille Day celebration. The reenactment of the French Revolution—which includes Marie Antoinette yelling “Let them eat Tastykakes!” and throwing the Philadelphia pastry to the crowds below—is followed by a street party, entertainment and French dinner specials at local restaurants.
