Barnes Foundation

Barnes Foundation

Setting a standard for environmental design, the Barnes Foundation achieved highest level of environmental certification from the U.S. Green Building Council—LEED Platinum. It was the first major art and education institution in the country to achieve this impressive designation, thanks to many of its green efforts, such as: recycling 95% of the materials from the location’s previous building; installing a green roof and solar panels; and using renewable, local and recycled content, including floors reclaimed from Coney Island’s boardwalk.
