El Carnaval de Puebla en Filadelfia

El Carnaval de Puebla en Filadelfia

New generations of celebrants continue the cultural traditions that are part of El Carnaval de Puebla en Filadelfia, a colorful parade and festival marking the 1862 triumph of Mexican forces over foreign invaders. Participants in the Cinco de Mayo street festival come from around the U.S. and Mexico, dressing in elaborately embroidered costumes and caricature masks that depict the armies that engaged in that battle. The cultural festivities continue afterwards at a street fair where celebrants indulge in authentic Mexican cuisine and enjoy traditional music and dance.
