El Carnaval de Puebla en Filadelfia

El Carnaval de Puebla en Filadelfia

Cinco de Mayo in Philadelphia gets underway with the traditional El Carnaval de Puebla en Filadelfia parade in which participants dress as historic characters depicting the famous battle in 1862 when Mexican forces defeated foreign invaders. Tens of thousands of participants from around the U.S. and Mexico re-enact folk dramas from the town of Puebla, where the battle was fought. Dancing and marching to live Mexican music, each group entertains with its own costumes, routines and personas.
