The President’s House: Freedom and Slavery in the Making of a New Nation

Right on Independence Mall, the open-air President’s House tells the story of the home where Presidents Washington and Adams lived during their terms and where nine enslaved people served the first president. Video re-enactments, illustrated glass panels and timelines help people discover the role of freedom in a new nation.
