About Visit Philadelphia™

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), the region’s official destination marketing organization, announced in November 2013 its new name: Visit Philadelphia™. The change will be implemented in company communications over a period of several months, with a new logo to be unveiled and begin appearing in advertisements in January 2014.

Visit Philadelphia™ makes Philadelphia and The Countryside® a premier destination through marketing and image building that increases business and promotes the region’s vitality.

Visit Philadelphia™ is a private, non-profit organization founded and funded in 1996 as Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) by the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Pew Charitable Trusts. In 1997, GPTMC launched the first consumer campaign to promote to potential tourists the diverse historical, cultural and entertainment/leisure aspects of the five-county region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia).

Every day, Visit Philadelphia™ reaches out to thousands of people to encourage them to choose Philadelphia as their next great vacation destination. Because our region has so much to offer, we promote it to people with all sorts of interests—history, heritage, arts and culture, food, outdoor adventure, shopping, you name it. Visit Philadelphia's™ goal is to inspire them to come find out what makes Philadelphia fun, authentic, historic, accessible and worth discovering.
